1947: Nissan TAMA marks our first EV

Back in 1947, Nissan developed the TAMA, our first-ever EV. A compact four-door followed two years later.
Even then, we knew we were on to something with electrification - and we've never looked back.

2000: Hypermini revealed in Montreal

After decades of EV innovation, Nissan unveiled the Hypermini at the Montreal Autoshow.

Soon after, drivers in Japan were able to take this ultra-compact commuter EV on the road, with a top speed of 100kph and up to 115km of range.

2010: LEAF becomes first mass-market EV

In 2020, LEAF thrilled the world as the first ever mass-market electric vehicle.

Since then, LEAF owners have driven this celebrated EV hatch over 8 billion miles around the globe, with half a million models sold worldwide.
